My New Baby...

I finally did it.
I finally nutted up and bought myself the one toy I thought I could never afford...
I finally let myself spend money on something other than bills and food...
I finally paid attention to a weekly circular (which showed me the best TV deal ever)...

I am now the Hi-Def Professor. And that other "lo def" guy is never comin' back.

Thanks to the nice people at Best Buy, I no longer stare at a 27" box, but rather revel in 40" of widescreen glory. No amount of detail is too much, no resolution is too high. I am now seeing all of the stuff that other people always told me about.

Football? Not my favorite sport...that is until I watched a bowl game, counting blades of turf grass from the virtual 50-yard line.

Sci-Fi? Not my favorite genre, but now that I see seamless special effects, I may allow myself to watch some geeked out programming.

CBS? Not my favorite network, but they put out the sharpest quality broadcasts, making me wonder if I should jump on this whole CSI thing a few years late.

The other night, Wifey and I counted pock marks on Rachael Ray during a Food Network HD marathon (yes, they have an entire high-def channel for cooking shows). For the record, Rach must have lived on 30-Minute Oil and Fat Bombs as a teenager, because her complexion is most unfortunate.

I won't even get into what this TV does for my XBox. Suffice it to say, it's pure sofa-squishing, finger-mashing magic.

But, it's ironic...

For all the hype of that day's purchase, and the unreal image quality that came in that big ol' box, the most amazing picture I've ever seen came a few hours earlier at Wifey's doctor appointment:

If you can see Rachel Ray's complective shortcomings, I'm certain that there are many other things that you probably shouldn't watch.

I don't have a console gaming system. In the past having one has meant that most other things in my life went bye bye.

And many congrats, on both the TV and on the family member who will someday try to stuff bologna in it.

Thanks, Froggy. I can't convince you enough to get an Xbox 360. Really.

After all, I took YOUR advice and made a baby...

...okay, I was kidding you are not all that responsible for this :)

Brad! Congrats to you both on the little one! Very cool. :) Good to see that the Prof's fish swim. Now, lets just hope the baby gets Mom's looks, and not Dad's. ha ha ha ha! ;) Just remember to play lots of metal for the youngin' to get him/her off right.

Hi-Def TV is the way to go. We bought ours a year ago, and we'll never go back. I hate watching anything that isn't a hi-def feed any longer.

Brian (who has no blog, but you could pimp - www.anybodylistening.net)

p.s. 15 year reunion next year man. Can you believe that shit? lol

Wait till you see some of the heavy metal onesies I already bought this kid.

We don't know about the gender, but we know it will have horns :)

Congratulations, Professor! On both the baby and the Hi-Def. I love my Hi Def, my favorite is watching those "Eye Over" various countries, shows. Oh, and watching baseball players spit.

Congratulations on your babies...

Personally, my child is a 50 inch model.

I have no others so it gets all the attention.

Good work.
